Dutch authorities have arrested a 24-year-old man in Amsterdam over suspected links to ShinyHunters, a hacking group associated with several high-profile cyberattacks involving organizations such as Ticketmaster, Rockstar Games, and the FBI. The arrest took place on September 15, 2026.
The suspect has not been officially named by Dutch authorities, although reports have linked the arrest to a Dutch man previously convicted of data theft and extortion. ShinyHunters, however, has denied that the arrested individual is connected to the group.
The FBI described the suspect as an alleged leader connected to the group and said the investigation is continuing with international partners. Dutch police also stated that the suspect is being investigated in connection with an alleged attempt to incite two murders.
The arrest comes as authorities increase pressure on cybercrime groups responsible for large-scale data breaches, extortion campaigns, and attacks targeting major companies and government organizations.
